Spock and Dracs

The Wilderness Revisited

Hi Sass, We've been wanting to write to you for a while, but getting Ann's attention these days is really difficult. She keeps rushing around with a bemused look on her face saying that she didn't leave work to be as busy as this. Busy! She doesn't know the meaning of the word.

Our new book, "Spock and Dracs, The Wilderness Revisited, More Extracts from the Diaries of Two Siamese Lodgers" was published last week. We think the printer's made a very good job of it again and we're hoping it'll be as popular as our first book. This one was written during a summer visit to Ann's. We were out and about a lot more, well Spock was, so the entries are quite different from the first one when it was winter. (No cat in his right mind would have spent more than a couple of minutes away from the nearest radiator or duvet that visit.)

We're having an official Launch on 13th July. We're inviting some of the people who've helped and supported us and we'll be there to hand over our first cheque to the PDSA. It'll be for £500. We're hoping the press will come along too. That's why we're calling it "A Champagne Reception". (We've heard the press like a drink.) Ann went white when we told her and wanted to know where we thought the champagne was coming from. No imagination as usual. We persuaded her to cash in her Sainsbury's Reward vouchers, so that's two bottles. She flatly refused to buy 384 rashers of thick cut bacon which would have given her enough points for 2 more bottles though. We thought it was very poor spirited of her. We both like bacon and would have been quite prepared to help her eat it. Some of her friends have said they'll give her their vouchers, so that'll help. When we totted up the guest list and allowed for the press we told her we thought we'd need at least 6 bottles. She's still recovering from that one.

We're also test marketing Spock and Dracs cards and notelets. We got the inspiration from the "Send a free Postcard" we've just introduced to Catsup. Mind you, we're still seething about the captions Ann's put on some of them. Making us out to be devious con merchants, not to mention thieves! Us!! Can you credit it?! The notelets use 5 of Richard's illustrations. We're keeping them local at the moment until we see how it goes. Ann's beginning to mutter that her living room is looking more like a warehouse with every passing day. She also says that since we got her doing the notelets, she's still folding paper in her sleep. (Have you noticed how humans never stop complaining?) A bit of good honest work won't hurt her. At least, we don't think it will. We're not sure, because we've never seen her do any before.
