Cat's and the dangers of thread

My husband and I were away for two weeks on a vacation and left our cat, Tigger, to be cared for by another family member. He ran out of cat food and was fed dog food instead- we didn't know this until we returned. Tigger has had a history of urinary issues and the dog food made him ill- we
treated him with his medicine and made sure that he had his proper food. He seemed to improve, then declined. We thought he was still urinating- there were yellow stains on the carpet- but the morning I had resolved to take him to the vet I was awakened to him vomiting- the yellow stains were bile. The vet took him for a day of tests and called with the horrible news- his intestines were all bunched together in an unnatural way, his bladder was fine. We rushed him into surgery and found the same thing that took Prissie from you, a long thread wrapped throughout his digestive tract. Tigger is in recovery today and I can only hope that he recovers fully.

I was searching on the 'net to see if this often happened to other cats and came across your site. Tigger got the thread from the bobbin on my sewing machine (I'm assuming- the color is the same and my bobbin was nearly empty when I investigated). What a horrible, and preventable, thing to have happen. Keep spreading the word and you have my heartfelt condolences.
