Your Letters

Tom

It's all gone dark....

Something strange has happened, suddenly everything has gone dark. I am managing to find my way around the house by smell and my whiskers stop me from bumping into things too much.

I can locate the cat-flap quite well and like to go for a little stroll around outside. I live in the country in a quiet cul-de-sac but my female human is worried about me, although I would hate to be shut in the house as I have always been free.

Does anyone else have a similar problem and if so, how do their humans manage?

Update...
I visited my vet on Friday and he said that I was coping very well, it seems that some cats get very upset. He thinks that it is OK for me to go into the garden for reasons which I too modest to name (well, I'm not using a litter tray at my time of life) and I am even more confident in there than in the house because I have always been a conscientious scent marker and there is less human clutter.

To my slight annoyance, my humans are insisting on keeping me in at night. There are doglike things called foxes which come out at night. They are more intelligent than dogs. They don't make a great stupid noise but sneak up like cats. I have never had trouble with them in the past because I am a big cat, but my humans think that they might take advantage of me.
