I believe moderate purring is beneficial to both human and cat.

I believe moderate purring is beneficial to both human and cat. In fact, recent research indicates that purring is useful in preventing heart disease (if accompanied by prawns, red wine and olive oil). It is important to monitor your purrfactor and not exceed the recommended weekly allowance of 21 units. The key is to make sure that purring is not a substitute for dealing with difficult emotions or problems and that it is not habitual - for example, if you regular indulge in a purr after meals, it can gradually increase to the point that it becomes detrimental to your dignity. If you begin to sense you may have a problem with purr abuse, seek help immediately - from PA group meetings you will find support and help to deal with your illness. It is important to recognise that while most cats can enjoy purring in a healthy and balanced way, there are some who cannot do so and it is an illness and sufferers deserve sympathy and support. I am always sensitive to recovering purraholics and do not purr while they are around.

I also want to point out that human purraholicism is to be encouraged at all times by any means. Get your humans addicted to your purrs and you ensured a total and permanent victory - nothing will be out of your reach!
